Butia capitata - Jelly PalmButia capitata - Jelly Palm

A stunning feather palm from South America which is becoming more and more popular due to its remarkable hardiness. It produces large fleshy fruits (which are very tasty) after a good hot summer. It is best planted outside when over 1 metre in height where it will quickly establish into a beautiful specimen.

Chamaerops humilis - Mediterranean Fan Palm

The only truly European palm and one of our most popular, Chamaerops can be grown in a wide range of situations. Its robust nature makes it a good palm for coastal conditions, although it is happy in any warm garden where it can tolerate heavy frosts. It makes a large, bushy specimen as it matures.

Cordyline australis - Torbay or Cabbage PalmCordyline australis - Torbay or Cabbage Palm

Not actually a palm, but fits in well with them. It is one of the easiest exotic plants to grow. It is very tolerant of wind and coastal exposure and can reach heights of up to 5 metres in the right spot. When mature, it will produce large panicles of fragrant white flowers, after which it will branch, creating a striking, bushy crown.

Cordyline australis 'Red Star'

Erect, palm-like tree with arching narrow purple leaves. It is not quite as hardy as the species, so may need some protection in the winter in colder areas. Plant in full sun and free draining soil for the best results. This variety tends to only reach around 2.5 metres in height and so is ideal for container cultivation.

Perhaps the most stunning variety of Cordyline available. Planted in a sunny position in well drained soil, this palm will grow into a spectacular specimen. It may need some protection from hard frosts, but is otherwise easy to maintain. Will also do well in a pot and look great on a patio.

Phoenix canariensis - Canary Island Date Palm

Perhaps one of the most familiar sights in the Mediterranean, this tough palm is instantly recognizable. It is proving to be quite hardy, with mature specimens tolerating heavy frosts. It is a hungry and thirsty palm and should be planted in full sun and good rich soil. May need some winter protection. Always very good value for money.

Trachycarpus fortunei - Chusan PalmTrachycarpus fortunei - Chusan Palm

A beautiful hardy palm for the garden. Chusan Palms originate from China and have been grown here for the last 150 years. They are happy in most soils and situations, although they are happier out of very strong, damaging winds. They establish quickly and respond very well to regular feeding and watering. The hardiest and most essential palm to own.

Trithrinax campestris

An awesome palm from Argentina which produces incredibly stiff, blue-grey leaves atop a stout, spikey bleached trunk, making this one of the most impressive palms we are able to grow in the milder parts of the U.K. Often forms very large multi-trunked specimens.
